Today marked the final day of our Read-A-Thon, and what a fantastic way to celebrate! Students and staff wrapped up days of dedicated reading by coming to school dressed as their favourite book characters.

From classic storybook heroes to modern favourites, our halls were filled with creativity, imagination, and a shared love of reading. Thank you to our students, families, and staff for making this Read-A-Thon such a success. Every page read counted, and today was a joyful reminder that reading can be both meaningful and fun.

Grade 4 Bible Ceremony

1/30/2026

Today, our Grade 4 students took part in a special and meaningful Bible Ceremony. Students received their own personal Bibles, which they will use throughout their religion learning and keep as a reminder of their faith journey.

This ceremony marked an important milestone as students continue to grow in their understanding of Scripture and their relationship with God. Through prayer, reflection, and shared celebration, students were reminded that the Bible is not just a book, but a guide for living with kindness, compassion, and love.

Thank you to our families, staff, and faith community for supporting our students on this special day. We are proud of our Grade 4s as they take this next step in their spiritual journey.

We were excited to welcome a very special visitor to our school this week. Michael J., the Arctic Winter Games mascot, stopped by to spread excitement, energy, and Arctic Winter Games spirit throughout our halls.

There were plenty of smiles, high-fives, and memorable moments as classes had the chance to see the mascot up close.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this visit possible. It was a fun and meaningful way to build excitement around the Arctic Winter Games and celebrate the unique culture and community of the North. We loved having Michael J. join us!

Supporting Music Learning at Our School

A big thank you to our amazing School Council and to everyone who supported the Hot Lunch Fundraiser. Because of your generosity, we were able to complete a class set of size-appropriate guitars.

Having a complete set means every student can participate together during music learning, without having to share or sit out. It also allows for differentiated instruction, with Educational Assistants able to work alongside students more effectively.

This support makes a meaningful difference and helps ensure music learning is inclusive, engaging, and accessible for all. We are so grateful for the continued partnership and support of our school community!

Read-A-Thon Begins Tomorrow!

The countdown is over, our school Read-A-Thon starts tomorrow, and we are ready to get reading!

For the next ten days, students and staff will be tracking their reading minutes and helping our whole school work toward an exciting shared goal. The best part? All reading counts! Audio books, physical books, being read to, and independent reading all add up. No matter how students enjoy stories, every minute helps our total grow.

Each day, classes will record their minutes, and our school tracker will be updated so everyone can watch our progress. If you visit the school, be sure to take a look and cheer us on as we work toward our goal together!

To wrap up the Read-A-Thon, we’ll be celebrating in style. Thursday, January 30 will be Dress Up Like a Book Character Day! Students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite character from a book and join in the fun.

Read-A-Thon is a wonderful chance to build reading habits, discover new books, and share a love of stories as a community. We encourage families to join in by reading together and talking about favourite books at home.

Let the reading adventures begin, happy Read-A-Thon, everyone!

A Magical Trip to See Frozen!

Students from Grades 2, 4, 6, and 7B enjoyed an exciting outing to the Arts Centre for Yukon Theatre for Young People's production of Frozen the Musical. The anticipation was high as classes boarded the bus, and the show did not disappoint!

Our school had a special reason to be proud. One of our very own Grade 7 students starred as Young Elsa, and she absolutely shone on stage. It was such a treat for everyone to see a familiar face performing so confidently. To make the experience even more meaningful, our talented music teacher Mrs. Durham was the musical director for the production. What an amazing connection for our students to see!

The performance was full of energy, humour, and heart. Elsa was a clear favourite with the audience, and Olaf completely stole the show. Students couldn’t stop laughing at his jokes and were still quoting his lines long after returning to school.

For many students, this was their first time seeing a live musical theatre performance, and it sparked so much excitement and joy. We are grateful to Yukon Theatre for Young People for putting on such a wonderful show and for giving our students an unforgettable experience.

What a fantastic reminder of the magic of theatre, and how inspiring it can be to see our own community members on stage!

Students returned from Christmas break full of energy, stories, and big smiles. They were thrilled to discover that winter had delivered plenty of fresh snow while they were away!
As soon as recess began, the playground turned into a winter wonderland of creativity and teamwork. Shovels, mittens, and imaginations went to work as students built forts and dug tunnels. Everywhere you looked, there were groups of kids laughing, planning, and proudly showing off their latest snowy creations.
