Grade 1A hit the trails on December 2nd for their very first cross-country skiing session, and their excitement was contagious! With fresh snow from the day before and a mild -2 degrees, conditions couldn't have been better. They have 2 more sessions before they conclude the Ski S'Cool program...fingers crossed for the weather to continue to cooperate so they can get back on the trails soon!

Today we gathered to celebrate Advent through our special tradition of Las Posadas. During this celebration, students recreated the journey of Mary and Joseph, moving from classroom to classroom as they searched for a place to stay. At each stop, classes welcomed them with an Advent promise, a simple commitment to kindness, patience, generosity, or peace during this sacred season.
Today we celebrated Canadian School Library Day! This is a day to recognize how important libraries are in our schools and communities. Over the past few weeks, students shared what the library means to them by writing or drawing on hearts.
We are learning how to take our ta’s and titi’s with our Magic Music Friends to create our own music notation. Here is grade 2 putting their learning into practice for the song “Apple Tree!”
3B and 1B have partnered up for Reading Buddies, and they took it outdoors! Students paired up with their buddies, found cozy spots in the forest, and shared stories together under the trees. It was the perfect mix of fresh air, friendship, and a love of books.
We’re excited to see how these buddy partnerships grow throughout the year as students continue to read, learn, and explore together. Every Wednesday at lunch, Grade 2 and 3 students look forward to a special tradition: Storytime with Mrs. Sias!
This year, she is starting with reading Freckle Juice by Judy Blume, and the students are loving every chapter. Laughter, curiosity, and eager listening fill the room as the story unfolds. Thank you to Mrs. Sias for continuing this wonderful tradition from last year. It’s a highlight of the week for many students and a great way to build a love of reading together. This week, Grade 11 Biology students from St. Francis came to share their learning with our grades 4 and 2 classes. Grade 4A, explored the theme of diversity in living things, focusing on what makes insects similar and how their unique adaptations help them survive. Students had the exciting opportunity to look at real insect specimens up close using microscopes. Seeing tiny details like wings, legs, and antennae magnified sparked lots of curiosity and questions. It was a hands-on way to connect science learning across grades! A big thank you to Mr. Gallant and his Grade 11 Biology students for teaching and inspiring us, we loved learning alongside you! This week, 3A brought art and science together in an exciting project: designing their very own islands! After naming their islands, students used their creativity to bring them to life with colour, detail, and imagination.! Each student created an island with at least six different landforms, from mountains and rivers to valleys and beaches. After naming their islands, students used their creativity to bring them to life with colour, detail, and imagination.
It was wonderful to see how students connected their learning about landforms in science with their artistic talents! On September 17, our whole school came together to honour the legacy of Terry Fox. Students and staff walked and ran through our community, showing determination, perseverance, and support for cancer research.
A big thank you to the Fish Ladder staff and to Ms. Hirsch for sharing their knowledge and making this visit so meaningful.
We are so excited to welcome all of our students and families back to school! A new year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and make memories together. Whether you’re joining us for the very first time or returning for another year, we’re glad you’re here.
Our teachers and staff have been busy getting classrooms and spaces ready for learning, and we can’t wait to see the energy and excitement that students bring to our school community. Let’s make this year one filled with curiosity, kindness, and joy! Here’s to a wonderful start to the school year! 2A proudly shared their learning through expressive movement and acting to bring their stories and knowledge to life. From dramatic voices to confident stage presence, students worked together to retell stories.
There were lively performances filled with teamwork, laughter, and imagination. The use of movement and dramatic expression helped students deepen their understanding of character, setting, and plot—all while having a lot of fun! We’re so proud of 2A’s creativity and courage. What a fantastic way to celebrate learning together!
At one station, glow sticks lit up the room as students explored chemical energy transforming into light energy. At another, hand-cranked flashlights demonstrated how mechanical energy (turning the crank) could be converted into electrical and light energy, and at another how gravitational energy turns into kinetic. Using thermometers, students also investigated how energy can transfer as heat. Through these exciting activities, students saw firsthand how energy moves and changes form all around us. It was a fantastic way to end the unit, leaving everyone curious and energized for more scientific exploration!
This week, our school was filled with excitement and creativity as the Drama Club and Production Club, with our amazing Mrs. Durham, brought The Wizard of Oz to life on stage! Our students wowed the audience with their acting, storytelling, and incredible teamwork.
Today was a very special day at our school! We gathered in the gym for the New Life Celebration, led by our amazing Kindergarten class. Everyone sat in circles, excited to be together. The kindergartners did an awesome job singing and spreading joy to celebrate Easter and the start of spring! Be sure to check out the video below to hear the Kindergarteners sing! A big thank you to Ms. Durham and the Kindergarten classes and teachers for all their hard work. We're also grateful to Father Leo, Grade 4B for pitching in and our grade 7 sound helper.
This week, our Grade 5 class took math to a whole new level - outside! Mr. Taylor brought in his fire pit and transformed math class into an unforgettable outdoor learning experience. Students gathered around the fire to solve math challenges and enjoy the fresh air. It was a perfect mix of learning and fun, showing how math can happen anywhere. Our library has its very own website! Check out what’s happening in the library, explore our books, and see what we’re learning. Happy reading!
